Check out Urban 10 Collective’s recent blog post on internships in Scandinavia for an insight into what it’s like to work at arki_lab and other Scandinavian offices! Thanks to our previous interns Dominika Misterka and Alice Lemaire who are part of @urban10collective.

We have some exciting news! Our democratic commun We have some exciting news! Our democratic community engagement tools, ArkiCity and arki_nopoly have won The Shape Your Future Award at the 2020 AWS City on a Cloud competition! ArkiCity was developed in partnership with UDIA NSW as a City Life Labs awarded grant while both ArkiCity and arki_nopoly were developed in partnership with the University of Wollongong’s SMART Infrastructure Facility.

Arkki_nopoly is a digital board game designed to bring together stakeholders and citizens to tackle big decisions in urban development. While the mobile app, ArkiCity, allows citizens to contribute to the (re)design of their neighbourhood and city in a playful and exciting way, and turns urban design into a democratic process, where all voices can be heard.

The past year in lockdown has highlighted the growing need for such creative communication tools that can adapt to our unprecedented times and have proven very useful in re-engaging communities on a common platform.

Download ArkiCity from App Store or Google Play[Beta version]. To try out the app use the project code "LAUNCH".

We are happy to welcome our new interns on board. We are happy to welcome our new interns on board. Our first intern we’d like to introduce is Isabella.

Originally hailing from Australia, Isabella is an architect who moved to Scandinavia in 2018 to pursue her interest in urban planning and citizen-centric design. During her masters she explored how participatory design methods could facilitate community investment and ownership throughout the planning and design phases. Isabella is passionate about how co-design strategies can enhance the individual and collective human experience of urban environments, and she is eager to engage with citizen involvement from a professional perspective during her internship at arki_lab.

Isabella will be working with us until July 2021. We’re looking forward to our journey together.

From all our home offices we wish @steffigunnarson From all our home offices we wish @steffigunnarson all the best. Steffi has been part of arki_lab since August as our intern in the social field. Steffi has, among different projects, been involved in, and delivered valuable contributions to our research project about feminist urban planning. It is always sad to said goodbye, so instead we say “see you later”. Have nice weekend out there 🍾🌟
