Proximity of Care Approach and Training Program

Working with ARUP to deepen our knowledge about Early Childhood Development

Collaborators: arki_lab, ARUP, Bernard van Leer, Urban95
Our role: Participating in the training program and developing a design proposal based on PoC
Location: Denmark / Global collaboration
Year: 2022
Status: Ongoing

arki_lab was chosen as one of ten design offices to participate in the further development of the educational program and design approach “Proximity of Care”.

The framework is developed by ARUP in collaboration with Bernard van Leer Foundation and Urban95 and focuses on Early Childhood Development as the point of departure for inclusive urban design. This means focusing on the wellbeing of small children (0-5 year olds) and their caregivers in the urban environment.

arki_lab is adding this new approach on top of our already established methods focused on young people and creative engagement methods, to keep deepening our understanding of how we best design cities with people.

Throughout the training program, we have been working with a design case in Denmark, and we are currently working on a design proposal based on the needs of small children and caregivers through the PoC approach.
