      A new community-informed Place Plan

In collaboration with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council arki_lab facilitated a broad community consultation of knowledge and insights that informed the Bungendore Place Plan 2024. The Place Plan is a tactical guide for development of the town's character, look, feel, function, liveability and connectivity over the next 10 years and enhances relationships and engagement between Council and the Bungendore Community.

The place plan was developed on the basis of a series of interviews with key stakeholders, an architectural site analysis, a digital survey and a series of community workshops. Additionally, extensive review of existing studies and reports as well as meetings with the local council ensured a solid foundation of knowledge for the plan.

Based on this extensive consultation work, the Place Plan was developed, covering a mapping of the towns identity, of its connectivity in- and outwards, its infrastructural challenges and its town centre, as well as the status quo of recreational areas and local businesses in the eyes of locals.

Outlining the future development of the town, the plan provides a vision described at three strategic levels spanning from overarching urban design strategies to 27 specific suggested initiatives for bettering the town. In this way, the plan is directly actionable, while ensuring that every step towards improvement is couched in an overall strategic vision for the town.

It was so successful that we should think about using it in other communities as well
