We are excited to announce that Emina and Astrid h We are excited to announce that Emina and Astrid have joined our team as our new interns! 🎉

Astrid is an analytical intern at arki_lab and she is currently studying a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology at the University of Copenhagen. Her academic interest centers on how anthropological knowledge can move beyond academic institutions and contribute to meaningful changes for people and communities. She looks forward to gaining practical experience with experimental methods for citizen involvement and democratic design processes.

Emina is a design intern and currently studying a bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy. During her studies at the culture-focused bachelor programme, her interest has revolved around political architecture, social sustainability and the human role within architecture. She looks forward to gaining practical experience with strategic urban planning, citizen involvement in design processes as well as working with the methodologies and approaches used in arki_lab’s work.

Welcome to the team! We are happy to have you onboard.
We’re honoured to have contributed to the plans fo We’re honoured to have contributed to the plans for the new Multicultural Centre in Illawarra, New South Wales. Last year, we were contacted by Chris Lacey of MCCI and asked to help co-create the vision and plans for their new headquarters. The Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra offers support for a large range of organisations working with migrant communities, providing everything from gym facilities, support for cancer patients and help with filling out government forms. Their new headquarters in Coniston will house both central administration and a diverse range of community activities at a single location.

We at arki_lab were commissioned at an early stage to help develop a cohesive plan that can support multicultural coexistence while facilitating the organisation’s desires. As always, we began with an in-depth engagement process, including interviews and a specially designed arki_nopoly workshop with the future users, to understand and respond to their wishes, needs and desires for the future MCCI headquarters.

Inputs from the users were crucial for us to develop a strategic plan for both the functions and spatial organisation of the new site. The plan includes large common areas, flexible spaces and large common rooms, allowing a wide range of activities and functions to coexist. These adaptations were designed to minimise changes to existing structural elements while optimising the overall use of floor space.

We look forward to seeing the project develop from here!

Tillykke Jeanette! 🇩🇰
✨Thank you for a great 2025!✨ 2025 has been fille ✨Thank you for a great 2025!✨

2025 has been filled with exciting projects, strong collaborations, and new relations. We are proud of the impactful projects we’ve lifted together! This year has truly reflected arki_labs’ core values, and we are proud to have:

..highlighted the quiet voices through ‘Børnespor’ (Children’s Tracks), where we have worked with urban spaces from a child’s perspective alongside 4th-grade classes in Ringsted and Odsherred municipalities.

...contributed to the public debate on children, cities, and architecture, including at Kulturmødet Mors.
...developed cities strategically Down Under in collaboration with Parkes Shire Council on a new CBD Vibrancy Strategy.

...created space for biodiversity and sustainable communities with the inauguration of the Climate Garden at Grønjordskollegiet.

...created youth culture in sustainable settings in two new GAME Street Hubs in Kolding and Gilleleje.

Looking ahead to the new year, we look forward to more meaningful projects in the spirit of arki_labs. Thank you for 2025 – we can’t wait to continue the journey. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! 🎄✨
✨ @dreyersfond følger med arki_lab i børnenes spor ✨ @dreyersfond følger med arki_lab i børnenes spor! ✨
